Make the appliance safe first

Disconnect electrical power when instructed. Close the water or gas supply before loosening connected components. Do not work around standing water, damaged wiring, gas odor, smoke or repeated breaker trips.

Do not bypass protection

Leak sensors, door locks, thermal protection and ground connections must never be bypassed to clear a code.

Know the boundary

If a check requires panel removal, electrical measurement, refrigerant work, gas work or lifting a built-in appliance, use a qualified professional.
